    Exciting things for the winter

I’ll break this down real easy for you folks. Expect some better new things, and expect current things to get better.

New things: We’re closer to opening our store front now. We’ve got a supplier, and just need to work out logistics, etc. Also we have found someone to make our swag more accessible for the european contingency.

Fine products (some you haven’t seen before) will be available, and shipped from the UK….no more crazy shipping fees from CafePress. Things that are getting better: We’re going to have some even BETTER raffle prizes in the next few months, get excited. Also the filevault is getting a complete overhaul. We’ve also been getting a lot of feedback about steve…we’re finally going to upgrade to Steve 2.0, which is actually highly trained pigeon. We expect these changes to revolutionize the site. That is all, we now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

International Talk Like a Pirate Day

Yaar Mateys!!! Today be International Talk Like a Pirate Day says I! We have heaved the main sails, and drawn the Jolly Roger on our mast in accord with the festivities. This be the only solemn day where a slubber mop bucket of a sailor can talk in his native pirate tongue without fear of walking the plank. So avast yee dungeon fools, and talk like a pirate for dee next twenty four hours!

And yarr! One more thing, keep your eye out for buried pirate treasure through out the day, we haven’t even begun the plunderin’ yet!.

    Something I’ve noticed.

I closed a thread the other day…which isn’t something I have to do very often around here…but regardless isn’t usually that big of a deal. What struck me odd about this however was now that summer is here, others are more apt to bash other zoners on the forum for seemingly anything.

Its real easy to be the internet tough guy. You get to sit at home, and blast other people away with comments and remarks that you wouldn’t dare say in public. Why? because its the freakin’ internet what’s gonna happen? The guy who’s bike you just bashed isn’t gonna come over and sock you in the jaw, and your friends and family aren’t going to get worried that you just oggled someone else’s wife/girlfriend, or any other of a number of baseless things people say and do online that no one in their right mind (at least no one with an ounce of moral fiber) would do in public, or around their peers.

I can imagine that sitting 9000 or some people in a room (99% of which are male) is bound to create some friction, etc. I’m not saying everyone has to like everyone else, but what I am advocating is that people should at least be respectful of others, and fucking think before they type. Think: would I really just tell this guy, who has spent god knows how much of his time slaving over this bike, and whatever time not slaving over the bike, slaving to make money to slave over the bike…would I really tell this guy I hate his work, and better yet, hate everything he does? If you answered yes to that question, I’ll be driving across the country soon, PM me your address and prove it to my face.

The motorcycling community is more diverse than we give it credit for. Stunters, racers, customizers, week warriors, commuters, etc. Shit we’re like the fucking UN when you think about the different directions people go with their love for this mode of transportation. So if you stumble across something that isn’t necessarily your cup of tea (for me personally, i have no interest in stunting) go ahead and give a nod and acknowledge to yourself, that this isn’t your brand of joe…but for the love of god keep it to yourself. Life is too short for me to walk into every stunt thread and say “you’re all a bunch of squids, get a life”…when in reality, it takes just as much skill, patience, and practice for them to do what they do, as it does for me to scoot my skinny white butt around a trackday.

Give props where credit is due.

I know I for one will be watching threads more closely, and sure everyone has a bad day, but if you’re one of these habitual shit talkers. I’ve got some great options on double secret probation i’ve been wanting to try out, and I honestly don’t care if you stay on the board…i sure as hell wouldn’t let you stay in my house if you were dogging me for my home decorating skillz.

The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

So why on god’s green earth would TLZone need a blog? I was bored, next question. Ok, why should you care that this is here, and what’s in it for you? There’s many things that go on behind the scenes at TLZ that never make it into the public spotlight. Debates on policy, new features, and general motorcycledom. The goal of this blog is to create a venue, outside of the staff forum (oops…the first rule about the staff forum is we don’t talk about the staff forum), for mods and admins to voice their opinions and concerns on the management of the site, and ability as you guys the members to post feedback.

the first example of this…a new idea of the TLZ logo that has been floating around.

so check back, and you too can get the inside scoop on things.
